Time to Kick Trump Off Twitter

President Donald Trump is alleged, "the most powerful man in the world" right now. The most powerful man in the world is constantly going into twitter rants and putting us, the people of The United States, at risk and in danger. Some people believe that someone so great and who is supposed to lead this country should not have a Twitter.

I believe that the president should be permitted to have a Twitter account, but operate it as Barack Obama did with his POTUS account, professionally. But I do not believe that the president should act in such a childish and unprofessional manner like Donald Trump has behaved on twitter his entire time as president.

Even without social media, Donald Trump is always talking in an unprofessional way and making our America image look bad. He has threatened multiple countries on twitter. There are more professionals ways to address situations like the Iran situation, instead of running to Twitter and threaten Iran like that. His offensive tweet about the Foreign Minister of North Korea was truly dangerous. His post like that one was close to starting a bigger issue better The United States and North Korea. When he tweets out things like this, it puts our lives in danger. He is being completely reckless and selfish. I think that there should be a law or something in place that restricts the President of The United States' social media usage.

So I propose this question, should the president of The United States be authorized to have a Twitter account?

Commentary

On Wednesday, November 27, 2019, Alexis Guerrero published a post titled Legalization on her blog.
In this post, I especially liked how she included the fact that “the war on drugs has cost the United States and its taxpayers billions of dollars and has led to the arrest of thousands,” because people tend to forget that part of history when discussing marijuana legalization. And I liked that she cited her sources, that shows that she did the research and knows what she’s talking about.
I strongly agree with her argument that legalizing marijuana could be extremely beneficial to our economy.

On Friday, November 1, 2019,  Alexis Guerrero wrote a blog post titled, U.S. National Government

This post was written very well, but it seems like a good start for a much broader argument. I think that Guerrero could have expanded more on the topic and explained in more detail what the “tampon tax” is. I believe that Guerrero should have gone into more depth on why she is opposed to the tampon tax.

With that said, I really like this issue proposed. I completely agree and think that taxes should not be put on feminine products.

This is Long Overdue

Currently, there are millions of people living in the United States who work demanding jobs that do not pay them enough. The federal minimum wage is not livable and should change to a higher/comfortable rate that is parallel to inflation.

According to the CPI Inflation Calculator, the buying power of a dollar ($1) today in 2019 is about 20 cents higher than the buying power of a dollar in 2009. A little over half of the states in America have a state minimum wage in place that does not follow the federal minimum wage rate of $7.25 and pays more; however, there are still a high number of states that do. The inflation rate keeps getting higher and higher, but the minimum wage rate has not budged in the last ten years and has failed to keep up with inflation. The last time the minimum wage was changed was in mid-2009, from $6.55 to $7.25 per hour, that is not a drastic difference. This pay rate means $290 a week, before tax, and $15,000 a year for full-time workers. That is not nearly enough for an individual or someone with a family to live off of every month, let alone every year. The average cost to live in an apartment can cost anywhere from $500 to $1,500 a month in the United States.

The federal government should raise the minimum wage rate to $15 and make sure that it stays parallel to the inflation rate because raising the wage would undoubtedly boost worker’s paychecks and bring them out of poverty. Besides, most Americans are in support of seeing the minimum wage increased.

Do you want gun control or not?

On Friday, October 18, 2019, a blogger under the name of Impala64ssaposted a blog titled, Recalling the Tragic History of Gun Control. There are many weak points throughout this post.

First and foremost, the publisher is trying to make an argument that is not concrete and all over the place. The primary dilemma with this blog post is that there is no real claim. The writer, Impala64ssa, states that "Maybe it's time to pursue real solutions to criminal violence and forget about a war on peaceable, law-abiding gun owners." It is hard to tell what the author's real argument is because, throughout the post, there is an implication that they want gun regulation, but then they seem to contradict themselves with the statement above.

Another predicament with this post is that the initial poster did not break the piece into sections or paragraphs; this makes it more difficult for us to read and makes it seem like one big chunk of information. There is also a problem with the wording; it is quite offputting. It appears as if they were randomly throwing words into their writing because some of the words seem redundant and are not necessary.

Lastly, the author did not establish their creditability. They state that politicians respond to gun violence by using the same mechanisms, "creating more felonies to criminalize law-abiding gun owners," and they give us this immense lesson on what politicians have done throughout history. Yet, there is no evidence to know if any of this information is accurate or not.

Putting all the critiques to the side, I can agree that politicians have been doing the same thing for years, and something needs to change, but I cannot agree with the rest of their "argument" and their outlook on gun owners.

Take A Chill Pill

On Friday, October 4, 2019, the Los Angeles Times published an article titled, If Democrats want universal coverage, they need to abandon the ‘Medicare for all’ fantasyThe author, Peter D, Salins, makes a strong argument, but there are a few weak spots throughout it.

First and foremost, there are a couple of typos in the article, which could make readers think it was not proofread before submitting it.

Secondly, at the beginning of the article, the author states that the progressives’ health care system plan is based on “serious misconceptions” but they do not necessarily state what the misconceptions are, just what is disregarded in their plan. Peter D. Salins, sounds very, anti-democratic progressives, throughout the entire article. They come off as quite hostile towards not just their ideologies or intentions, but for them in particular. Salins stated, “Further, every country so admired by the Democratic progressives” the tone set in place is very aggressive and sarcastic. Even the title of the article gives off a hostile feel. They should have steered clear of such tones.

Although there are a few weak points in the article, there are some strong points as well. While Salins is pointing out everything wrong with the democratic progressives health care approach Salins also provides an alternate solution for the health care system. Salins reveals details about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and how it can be strengthened. Salins also, provided statistics on other countries and their health care systems to back up their argument.

You Should Give It A Read

On Thursday, September 19, 2019, the Salon published an article titled “Trump wants to punish California over homelessness — after denying funds to fight homelessness.” It discusses how California reached out to the Trump administration to expand some programs set in place to help house the homeless, but the administration, Ben Carson rejected their demand per the president’s request. Trump then threatens to use the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA to punish California for its homeless problem the same day. All the while, he’s making promises to protect foreign real estate investors from California’s homeless population. He insinuates that the overregulation of housing caused the homelessness problem. This article is interesting and worth reading because it discusses the contradicting and hypocritical actions of the United States president, Trump.
